Northumberland's Border Reiver past has resulted in no fewer than seventy castles, more than any other county in England. From the well known Alnwick Castle, of Harry potter and Downton Abbey fame, to the stunning Dunstanburgh Castle with its dramatic coastal setting and Chillingham Castle, Britain's most haunted and famed for its wild cattle. There are castles of all shapes and sizes and you are never far away from one, least of all our very own Edlingham Castle!

 

Coast

The Northumberland coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has a myriad of soft sandy beaches and swathes of dunes where you will often find yourself the only visitor. There are a plethora of choices from Druridge Bay teaming with bird life along its seven miles of endless sand and multiple coves to Bamburgh with its mighty castle forming a truly epic backdrop. For hardy walkers then ascending Cheviot itself to reach the highest point of Northumberland is sure to be rewarded with the most magnificent views.

Majestic Kielder Ospreys soar above the water enthusiasts paradise below. A stronghold for Northumberlands much loved red squirrel population this is a haven for wildlife of all kinds. From stargazing at the observatory to the open air art experience that borders the lake there is no end to activities and enjoyment to be had.
