A unique glamping space
A super luxurious, adult only, one bedroom eco-lodge inspired by nature. Ideal for special occasions, or just an escape, for those wanting an experience to remember surrounded by nature. Located in the heart of our four and a half acre glebe field.
Adventure awaits at The Glebe Retreat
The Glebe Retreat is designed to offer a "close to nature" eco minded experience without any compromise on comfort and luxury. The cocoon like timber structure, created using biophilic design principles is inspired by nature itself and connects its occupants to the natural environment around. Approached by a short gravel road there are four separate zones that represent the four elements of nature: Earth, Water, Fire and Air.
Earth "the glebe retreat" : Our 40m2 main living space raised on piles appears to float above the ground. The super insulated eco led dome provides a cosy, comfortable space whatever the Northumberland weather brings and the large deck area is ideal for wildlife spotting.
Water "a washout in the glebe" : You can't leave without experiencing our al fresco bath. Big enough for two and weighing in at 1.5 tons, before people and water, this bath is carved from a single river stone boulder. Best enjoyed under the famous Northumberland star studded night sky with a glass of prosecco.
Fire "alight in the glebe" : Designed to replicate the shape of a rain drop our stunning corten steel fire pit is the ideal place to watch the sparks fly. Nestled within a circular enclosure you can toast a marshmallow or enjoy a hot chocolate or something stronger sheltered from the elements.
Air "hanging in the glebe" : Suspended from a low branch in a nearby tree is a striking hanging lava chair made from basalt fibres, a great place to relax. Watch the world go by, read a book or simply listen to the birds sing, the choice is yours.
The Glebe Retreat has strong eco led credentials that don't come at the expense of luxury. There is a super king size bed with high thread count Egyptian cotton, Nespresso coffee machine, soft furnishings by Mulberry and Ferm Living and a Bang and Olufsen blue tooth speaker. For those cosy nights in there is complimentary Netflix and an array of boardgames.
We provide everything you could need for a memorable stay and The Glebe Retreat is ideally located, if you can tear yourself away, to explore our beautiful area.
